About this supplement
What Is Lion's Mane?
Lion's mane grows on dead and dying hardwood, hanging off the trunk in long white spines instead of gills. It looks more like a sea creature than a mushroom. Japan calls it yamabushitake, China the monkey-head mushroom. It has been eaten as food for as long as it has been taken as a tonic.
How It Works in the Body
This extract is made from the fruiting body, the part that grows out of the log, and that choice sets the chemistry. Fruiting bodies carry hericenones, a family of aromatic compounds found nowhere else in nature, together with beta-glucans, the branched sugars that make up fungal cell walls. Erinacines, the other compounds lion's mane is known for, form only in the mycelium and are not present here. The beta-glucans are the part that immune cells in the gut wall read as fungal.
What It Supports
- Normal immune function: Supports the everyday immune activity that mushroom beta-glucans are associated with.
- A traditional tonic mushroom: Used in Japan and China as food and tonic long before it reached a capsule.
- Fruiting-body chemistry: Hericenones come only from the part of the fungus this extract is made from.
- Prebiotic fiber: Organic inulin rides along in the capsule, a plant fiber that gut bacteria ferment.
Who It May Suit
People who cook with mushrooms and want a concentrated version of one they already like, and anyone assembling a routine out of whole fungal materials. The capsule is a vegetable polysaccharide, so it fits vegan and vegetarian eating.
Good To Know
This is a fruiting-body extract at 1,000 mg per serving, with organic inulin as the only carrier. Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or nursing, and mention it if you have ever reacted badly to mushrooms.

FAQ
Common questions
What is lion's mane?
A mushroom, Hericium erinaceus, that fruits on beech, oak and other hardwoods across Asia, Europe and North America. It has no cap and no gills; the spore surface hangs in soft white teeth. Cooks like it because the texture pulls apart something like crab meat.
How does it work?
The mushroom is better described than explained. Its cell walls are built from beta-glucans, the fungal sugars immune cells are tuned to recognize. The fruiting body also makes hericenones, aromatic compounds unique to this species. Traditional East Asian use takes the whole mushroom as the thing, not any one fraction.
What makes this form different?
It is made only from the fruiting body, at 1,000 mg per serving, and certified organic. That matters chemically: hericenones form in the fruiting body while erinacines form in the mycelium, so the two kinds of extract are not the same material. Organic inulin is the carrier.
Who is it for?
Anyone who already eats mushrooms and wants one of them concentrated, and people who prefer a whole fungal material to an isolated molecule. The capsule is a vegetable polysaccharide rather than gelatin, and the inulin comes from plants, so it fits vegan and vegetarian patterns.
What should I know before taking it?
Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you take a blood thinner. Anyone who has reacted badly to mushrooms should mention this one, since that is exactly what it is. The inulin carrier is a fermentable fiber, which sensitive digestions sometimes notice.
