About this supplement
What Is 2-A-Day Multivitamin?
A multivitamin covers the essential vitamins and minerals in one supplement. This one holds twenty, in two capsules: chelated minerals, activated B vitamins, and annatto tocotrienols in place of the usual vitamin E.
How It Works in the Body
Vitamins mostly work as coenzymes, small helpers an enzyme has to hold before it can run. Several arrive here past the step the body would otherwise carry out itself: folate as Quatrefolic 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, B6 as pyridoxal 5-phosphate, B12 as methylcobalamin.
The minerals travel differently. Zinc, manganese, chromium and molybdenum are bound to glycine as chelates, so each arrives wrapped in an amino acid rather than loose in solution. Vitamin K appears twice, as K1 and as menaquinone-4.
What It Supports
- Energy metabolism: The B vitamins are coenzymes in the reactions that release energy from food, so they play a role in normal energy metabolism.
- Immune function: Vitamins A, C and D, along with zinc and selenium, support normal immune function.
- Antioxidant defenses: Vitamin C and the annatto tocotrienols support the body's antioxidant defenses, on the water side and the fat side.
- Bone and calcium: Vitamins K1 and K2 activate the proteins that place calcium in bone, and boron is involved in bone mineral.
- Thyroid chemistry: Iodine is the raw material thyroid hormone is built from, and selenium is required by the enzymes that finish it.
Who It May Suit
Adults who want the whole set covered by two capsules rather than a handful. There is no iron here, which suits men and anyone past menopause. The capsule is cellulose and nothing in it is animal-derived.
Good To Know
Several nutrients sit well above the daily value, and the vitamin A is part preformed palmitate, part carotenoids. Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant, since preformed vitamin A carries an upper limit then, or if you take a blood thinner, since vitamin K works in the same clotting chemistry.

FAQ
Common questions
What is it?
A daily multivitamin and mineral formula from Designs for Health, with twenty nutrients in it: vitamins A, C, D, E and K, the B group, and the trace minerals iodine, zinc, selenium, manganese, chromium, molybdenum and boron. A serving is two capsules.
How does it work?
An enzyme is a protein that performs one chemical step, and many cannot work alone. Vitamins become coenzymes that clip into the enzyme; minerals sit at the active site as cofactors. Most of what a broad formula does is keep those seats filled across hundreds of reactions at once.
What makes this formula different?
The forms, and the vitamin E above all: delta and gamma tocotrienols from annatto seed rather than tocopherol. Tocotrienols carry an unsaturated tail where tocopherols carry a saturated one. Folate is Quatrefolic methylfolate, four minerals are glycinate chelates, and there is 500 mg of vitamin C per serving.
Who is it for?
Adults who would rather take two capsules than a row of single nutrients. It leaves out iron, copper, calcium and magnesium, which many people take separately anyway, and that suits men and people past menopause. Nothing in it is animal-derived, so vegetarian and vegan eating fit.
What should I know before taking it?
Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant, because part of the vitamin A here is preformed palmitate and pregnancy carries an upper limit for that form. Mention it too if you take a blood thinner, since the formula supplies both K1 and K2, or if you already take overlapping singles.
