About this supplement
What Is Curcumin BioActive Complex?
Turmeric rhizome makes three closely related yellow pigments, and all three are included: curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Together they are the curcuminoids. The extract is Curcumin C3 Complex, standardized to 95% curcuminoids, with sunflower lecithin alongside it in the capsule.
How It Works in the Body
Curcuminoids are polyphenols. Phenolic hydroxyl groups on their rings give up a hydrogen atom readily, which is the chemistry behind antioxidant activity. The three differ only in how many methoxy groups sit on those rings.
They also bind transcription factors, the proteins that decide which genes a cell switches on, among them the ones running the body's normal inflammatory signaling.
Curcuminoids are fat-loving and barely dissolve in water. Lecithin is a mix of phospholipids, the molecules cell membranes are built from, each with a water-facing head and a fat-facing tail. That is what lets them sit at the boundary between fat and water.
What It Supports
- A healthy inflammatory response: Curcuminoids support a healthy inflammatory response, part of normal immune signaling.
- Antioxidant defense: Their phenolic groups let them contribute to the body's antioxidant network.
- Joint comfort: Turmeric has a long record in Ayurvedic practice as a preparation taken for the joints.
- All three pigments: The C3 extract names each curcuminoid rather than folding them into one number.
Who It May Suit
People who cook with turmeric and would rather have the pigments concentrated than seasoned into a meal. The capsule is plant cellulose and the lecithin comes from sunflower rather than soy, so it suits vegetarian and vegan eating and sidesteps a common allergen.
Good To Know
A serving is one capsule carrying 400 mg of the curcuminoid extract per serving. Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you take a blood thinner, if you have gallstones or a bile duct problem, or if you are pregnant, since curcumin affects bile flow and slows platelet clumping.

FAQ
Common questions
What is in it?
One active: a turmeric extract known as Curcumin C3 Complex, 400 mg per serving, standardized to 95% curcuminoids. Curcuminoids are the yellow pigments of the turmeric rhizome, a plant in the ginger family grown mostly in India. Sunflower lecithin rounds out the capsule contents.
How does it work?
Two ways. As polyphenols, curcuminoids hand hydrogen atoms to reactive molecules and settle them down, which is ordinary antioxidant chemistry. Separately they bind transcription factors, the proteins that govern which genes a cell expresses, including those directing the body's everyday inflammatory signaling.
What does the lecithin do?
Lecithin is a mix of phospholipids, the same class of molecule that builds cell membranes. Each has a water-loving head and a fat-loving tail, so it sits at the boundary between the two. Curcuminoids are fat-loving and water-shy, and a phospholipid gives them a way to disperse.
Who is it for?
People who want turmeric's pigments concentrated rather than used as a spice, and anyone assembling a routine around plant polyphenols. The capsule is cellulose and the lecithin is from sunflower rather than soy, so vegetarian and vegan eating are covered and a common allergen is avoided.
What should I know before taking it?
Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you take a blood thinner or an antiplatelet medicine, since curcumin slows platelet clumping, or if you have gallstones or a bile duct problem, since it makes the gallbladder contract. Mention it too if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking iron.
