About this supplement

What Is Complete Mineral Balance?

A mineral formula with no vitamins in it. Twelve minerals, each bound to something organic: calcium and magnesium to malic acid, most of the rest to glycine, the smallest amino acid. Iodine is the exception, supplied as potassium iodide.

How It Works in the Body

Minerals are not fuel. They sit inside enzymes as the working part. Zinc holds the shape of hundreds of them, magnesium pairs with every molecule of ATP a cell spends, and copper and manganese sit at the center of antioxidant enzymes.

Chelation describes the binding. Glycine wraps the mineral ion in a ring, so it travels as an amino acid complex rather than a loose charged atom. Malate does the same with a four-carbon acid from the citric acid cycle.

What It Supports

  • Bone: Calcium, magnesium and boron are all part of the mineral matrix of bone, so they support bone health.
  • Enzyme chemistry: Zinc acts as a cofactor in hundreds of human enzymes, including those that build protein and DNA.
  • Antioxidant enzymes: Selenium, copper, manganese and zinc are built into the body's own antioxidant enzymes.
  • Thyroid: Iodine is the element the thyroid uses to make its hormone, and there is no substitute for it.
  • Nerve and muscle signaling: Potassium and magnesium carry charge across cell membranes, which is how nerves and muscle fibers signal.

Who It May Suit

People who already have their vitamins covered and want the mineral side handled separately, and anyone who prefers chelates and malates to oxides and carbonates. There is no iron and no vitamin D here, so it layers under a multivitamin.

Good To Know

A serving is three capsules, and several minerals sit well above their daily value, selenium and zinc among them. Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you take thyroid medication, since iodine changes how the thyroid works, or if you have reduced kidney function, because kidneys set potassium and magnesium balance.

FAQ

Common questions

What is it?

A twelve-mineral formula with no vitamins alongside. Calcium and magnesium are bound to malic acid, zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, selenium, boron and potassium to glycine or a glycine complex, and iodine is supplied as potassium iodide. The capsule is plant cellulose.

How do chelated minerals work?

A mineral in food or a carbonate arrives as a charged ion and has to be handled as one. In a chelate, glycine wraps around the ion and holds it in a ring, neutralizing the charge, so it moves through the gut as an amino acid complex. Malate binds calcium and magnesium the same way.

What makes this formula different?

Per serving it lists 200 mg of calcium as dicalcium malate, 200 mg of magnesium as di-magnesium malate, 20 mg of zinc, 150 mcg of selenium and 150 mcg of iodine, with copper, manganese, chromium, molybdenum and vanadium as TRAACS chelates and boron as a glycine complex.

Who is it for?

Adults building a routine mineral by mineral rather than through a single multivitamin, and anyone whose practitioner wants minerals separated from vitamins so the two can be adjusted on their own. Nothing in it is animal-derived and the capsule is cellulose, so vegetarian and vegan eating are covered.

What should I know before taking it?

Talk with your healthcare provider before use if you take thyroid medication or have a thyroid condition, since the iodine here is well above the daily value. Ask as well if you have reduced kidney function, because kidneys govern potassium and magnesium, or if you take a copper-sensitive medication or are pregnant.
